How to Take Care of Your Beloved Leather Bag

How to Take Care of Your Beloved Leather Bag

In today’s enchanting episode of the Luxury Helsinki blog series, we invite you to explore the art of caring for your precious leather treasures. To maintain the original quality of your beloved bags, we recommend to do and not to do as the followings:

Protecting the Bag
Apply professional leather oil with white cotton clothe on the leather
corners, spray the waterproof leather care for the raindrop or liquid resistance
before use.

Using your Bag
Be careful not to overload your bag with very heavy or pointy items. Leather is a durable material, however, it doesn't mean it can be handled roughly.
Please avoid long-term
exposure to heat, humidity and sunlight and keep the bag away from any detergents, newspaper, ink, as well as any sauces and oily products that could cause stains and damages. We recommend not get any leather products in contact with denim outwear/jeans, due to the washed colours would easily transfer onto the surface of the cowhide/skin and the result is often irreversible.

If the Leather Item Has a Stain or Other Damage
Due to the nature of the material, only professional specialist cleaning is
recommended for exotic leather, cowhide, suede, sheepskin, beads or fabric
(tweed, wool, cotton, etc.) bags. If your bag has a small stain, you can carefully try to clean it with a leather soap and small amount of water. Do not submerge your bag into water or in a washing machine. Avoid direct
contact with hard chemicals as this might stiffen your leather, fabric or
fabric/leather item. We also offer Bag Spa services, and can help you to polish your bag to it's original glory. We recommend contacting the brand directly for repairs, as most luxury leather bag brands offer repair services and are eager to assist. Please note that if you choose to repair the bag yourself or take it to a third-party service, the brand may no longer accept it for future repairs. Additionally, some original parts may be replaced with non-authentic components.

Storing Leather-Goods
Store the leather goods in the dust bag in order to keep it dust-free and
protected when it is not being used. Avoid plastic bags for extended periods of
storage. The bags should be kept in cool, dry environment and not in a direct sunlight as this might damage the material.

Thank you for joining us on this adventure in leather care, we hope you will be able to enjoy your leather pieces for a long time!
